Boiler Inspections and Compliance Codes: Here’s What You Need to Know

Managing New York City buildings and staying on top of compliance codes can feel as frustrating as being stuck in traffic on the Cross Bronx Expressway. As the year winds down, Industrial Steam Boiler Corporation wants to remind building owners and property managers to schedule all the necessary inspections and testing for your boilers and HVAC systems to help you avoid costly fines and compliance issues.

Let’s Talk About NYC Inspections

  • Local Law 152: Local Law 152 was enacted in 2020 to increase the safety of gas lines in New York City. Buildings are required to have all gas piping inspected by a Master Plumber every four years. If it’s time for your Local Law 152 inspection, schedule it now so you can make any repairs or corrections and bring your building into compliance before the new year.

  • DOB Inspections: Commercial buildings, apartment complexes, and other large buildings in New York City are subject to a variety of yearly building inspections, including boilers, oil burning equipment, plumbing, and many more. 2025 is less than two months away; make sure you schedule your annual inspections before the year ends!

  • Backflow Prevention Inspections: Backflow prevention devices prevent tainted water from returning to the main water supply. New York State Law requires these devices to be inspected every 12 months, or you could face fines or the disconnection of your water service.
